A bit about Sian:

Talofa, Hello, Bula Vinaka, Hola, Mauri and Kia Ora!

My name is Sian (Sharn) also known at school as Mrs Mareko.

I am originally from England and Kiribati and my family and I moved to Auckland in 2001. At 15 I discovered that I was passionate about teaching. Later I chose teaching as a career because of my admiration for my grandmother who was a teacher.

It was at Henderson SDA Church that I found Jesus, so I feel very blessed to be working at Waitakere SDA School. It is my prayer that the work we do together for the children and their families will bring more people to Christ.

A bit about myself:

Firstly I would like to take this time to thank the Lord for this great opportunity and to our school for allowing me to be a part of a great team.

I am Tafou Alolua. In the past I’ve had three of my children attended Waitakere SDA School and now my eldest granddaughter Lasita is currently attending.

I’m currently attending the Henderson Samoan SDA Church. There I serve as a secretary for the Sabbath school department and an adviser for the women’s ministry department as well. It’s a blessing to be call to duty by our heavenly father, and all although it can be challenging at times, but I believe the Lord qualifies the unqualified.

I’m looking forward to being a part of the team, to be a voice for our children and their families and our school. I hope to do my very best with the help of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
